Albert Smart & Bill Bell
Cosgrove/Whear Final

Congratulations to Albert Smart on his strong victory in the final of this event last Saturday. A fast start and a 3 and 2 win over Bill Bell indicated that Albert must have been on fire, as Bill has been in good form. I'm not sure if the attached boxing photo was before or after play, however the game was played in excellent spirit. "Too good", was Billy's first comment after the game.

Hole in One (again)

We have had more than our share of hole outs in recent months.  Congratulations to Paul Meani (pictured right) after his great effort on the 16th last Thursday.

This after Chris Longhurst achieved the same feat on the previous Thursday, 5th of July on the 6th.  It appears that Thursday's must be the preferred 'hole in one day', so some members may need to have a day off work to increase their chances of getting one.

Mixed Foursomes

Well it's on. The most enjoyable, fun, exciting competition of the year. The Mixed Foursomes is happening this Saturday and if the partners are still talking to each other, it's on again on Sunday. Early favourites are hard to pick. Could it be the The Goodall's, the Chapman / Cummins team again, or the Hunt/ Hunt father daughter team. Maybe the Bell/Ross or the Wrights, even the Pershouse combination. It's an open event. We will know the winners on Sunday evening.

calendar icon Monday Pro Comp

Last Monday, 60 players played in Stuart's Monday pro comp.  It is clearly becoming more and more popular.  Highly recommended to get your golfing fix after a few days off after a Saturday disaster.

Golf Carts

Those using carts please utilise the new path between the 17th green and the 18th tee. It travels around the back of the 18th tee, so carts are then parked on the 1st hole side of the 18th tee box. This will help in our efforts for remediation of the hard pan behind the 17th green. If you park in front of the 17th, then move toward the second hole, you will see the new cart path.

calendar icon  NEW RULES

If you are interested in the new golf rules commencing next year, the following link will give you a preliminary summary of what to expect.

Volunteers Report  - June/July

With the dry winter well established and a 'request' from management for vols to give gardens priority over this period, the team dedicated most of the 2 vol days to mulching.

Always plenty of input from the team as to recommended areas of priority, however, on the 18th we were joined by Club President, Stephen H. who quietly suggested that the area adjacent to the Club President's parking spot would serve as a worthy starting point.

Cold this Week?

You bet. This photo shows a ball sitting on the ice in the 5th dam on Monday morning. This is what happens when you hit minus 5. Not sure if the frozen dam allowed him to take a stance on the water, but it makes for an interesting shot.

A Frosty July Morning

Thanks to Chris Gardner for the great shot.
