We invite those interested in joining the 2024 Master Pennants Team as a Manager or Team Player to express their interest. If you are 50 years or older, and are keen to participate, kindly add your name and details to the list located near the Golf Score Terminals. Looking forward to seeing you on the team!

Holidays are over and we are now back into the swing of regular golf. The course has been a bit damp underfoot lately, but otherwise it is in great condition. As long as you stay on the fairways haha.

Ladies Golf Report 2nd February 2024.pdf

  • Our newly constructed 14th green will open for play this coming Saturday for the February Monthly Medal. The entire project went extremely well without any major issues. All the turf surfaces from the A1/A4 bent grass green, the Santa ana couch collar and the kikuyu approach and rough surrounds are in a nice healthy condition and should provide playing surfaces that all members will enjoy.
  • The new bunker is also a significant upgrade on what was in play previously. There will be ongoing maintenance practices on the green and surrounding areas as part of the maturation and development process. Something that may be noticed initially, are some small bronze patches on the couch collar. These are small areas where invasive kikuyu runners have been spot sprayed with a selective herbicide. We will endeavour to keep the couch as clean as possible moving forward. The greens staff have put a lot of man hours into the project and are quite proud of the improvements and what we have achieved in the past 6 months. We do thank the membership for their support and patience as we have undertaken the project.
  • Earlier this week, all greens (except the 14th) have been given an air injection into the root zone of the green. We were fortunate that a machinery supplier provided us with an opportunity to demonstrate and use the machine called the AIR2G2. The process involves a 300mm tine entering the soil and laterally injecting pressurised air into the profile. It assists with improved soil porosity, compaction relief and encourages improved oxygen exchange with the soil profile. All things that can be beneficial to our greens, particularly the older ones in the poorer micro climates. There is minimum disruption to the surface of the green.
  • This week the road from the club to the driving range had some improvements undertaken. Contractors were on site and added a road base/slag material that was spread, watered and compacted with a roller. The surface is now a much smoother ride for anyone driving down to the range.
