  • This week has seen 62mm rain fall on the course since Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately we reached the point of total saturation and standing water around the course this morning and had to cancel carts for the day (Thursday) to prevent any possible damage to the course and ensure safety for golfers.

  • Good news for all members is that the 14th green is almost ready for play and will be opening for the Monthly Medal round on Saturday February 3rd. We are still undertaking some minor cultural practices to assist with the ongoing development and maturity of the green.

  • The green has had two light dustings the past 2 weeks and will have this continued to be done prior to opening. This assists with firming the surface of the green, providing trueness and growing in any minor imperfections along with building up the mat/thatch to help with play and wear and tear. We have also given the approach a light core and topdress to assist with the grow in. The bunker is all prepared and ready for play also. We ask that under no circumstances is the green to be played on or practiced on prior to the opening.

  • The ladies 16th tee that has recently been rebuilt and shaped to provide a much better, level and consistent tee will also be introduced for play on Saturday 3rd February. Must say though that it is disappointing to see that a golfer or two chose to use it as a practice tee, as evidenced in the photo. This occurred late on Tuesday this week.

  • All greens were given an 8mm needle tine this week (Wednesday) to assist the greens through the summer stress period and also recent high volume of play. It allows the soil profile to breath and get oxygen into the soil along with assisting with drainage of the green surface and relieving compaction.

  • With the amount of rain and high humidity and warm summer temps many would see how quickly the grass is growing at the moment, not just on course but at home and around the area. The greens staff are working tirelessly doing extra hours in an attempt to keep up with all the areas of rough and surrounds. Please be patient and understand the circumstances we are dealing with. We will continue to do what we can in our power to keep up with all the grass around the course and maintain the playability to the best of our ability.
