As summer approaches, we urge all golfers to stay vigilant and prioritize their safety in the face of impending heat waves. Remember to stay hydrated, use sunscreen, and take necessary precautions to ensure an enjoyable and safe golfing experience during the warmer months ahead.

Hi everyone, my name is Issac Wojewodka, and I have been working at Camden Golf Club for the past 13 years. I started as a groundsman, and I worked my way up to become the assistant superintendent over the years. Recently, I completed my Diploma in Sports Turf Management and was selected for the Future Turf Management Initiative Program. While I don't play golf often, I take pride in producing high-quality turf surfaces.

I want to share my volunteering experience at The Lakes Golf Club for the 2023 Australian Open golf tournament. As you may already know, the club is ranked 18th in Australia and is one of Sydney's premier golf clubs. I responsible for rolling greens every morning! I had the task of rolling the greens 18, 17, 12, 13, 2, 8, and 7, which took me three hours every day to complete. The other volunteers and staff members at the Lakes were responsible for mowing the fairways, tees, surrounds and greens, changing the holes, raking the bunkers, and using a blower to remove any debris from the course. With over 2 hectares of A4 Bent grass putting surfaces. The 14th Green was one of the biggest putting surfaces on the course, taking roughly 30 minutes to roll.

My other duties included divoting fairways, trimming rough areas, cleaning sandy waste areas, and snipping sponsor signs. The Lakes Golf Club staff were friendly and helpful, showing me around the course and demonstrating to the volunteers how to work to their standards.

One of the most memorable moments of my volunteering experience was on Tuesday. It was a practice round for the professionals, and I witnessed some of the best players in the world, including Adam Scott, Cam Smith, and Marc Leishman, playing in the same group. I even chatted briefly with Cam Smith and Bob Maclntyre, who played in the 2023 Ryder Cup.

Overall, I had an unforgettable experience volunteering at The Lakes Golf Club, and I want to thank Camden Golf Club for giving me this opportunity. It was a great learning experience, and I look forward to doing it again. If you ever get to volunteer at a golf tournament, I highly recommend it!

2023 is almost done and dusted.  What a great year of golfing and the course is playing so well.
Congratulations to our December Medal Winners; Division 1; Candice Bell 71, Division 2, and Medal of Medals Winner Annette Wilson 72. Division 3; Chris Pettitt.

Course Care and Etiquette

Dear Members,

It has come to our attention that there have been some incidents of poor bunker and divot etiquette at Camden Golf Club recently. We would like to remind all players to adhere to proper golf course etiquette to ensure the enjoyment of the game for everyone.

When using bunkers, please follow these guidelines: always enter at the lowest point, pull the rake toward you upon exiting, and avoid piling sand at the bunker's edge. Leave the rake with the handle pointing toward the tee.

Additionally, when repairing ball marks, use a repairer to ease turf toward the center and tap down lightly with your putter.

For divots, never replace them; instead, knock in the edges and fill with sand, ensuring it is level with the surrounding grass. By following these guidelines, we can maintain the integrity of our course and promote a positive golfing experience for all.
Sincerely,
Camden Golf Club Management
