Board of Directors

Voting for the Board of Directors

Voting has already commenced!

Members will be voting to appoint two (2) Directors from six (6) nominees.

Financial members as at Wednesday 16th September 2020 are eligible to vote.

Members can cast their vote during business hours Monday to Friday and from 10am till 2pm on Saturday 26th September and 3rd October.

Voting closes at 2pm on Saturday 3rd October.

We are hoping to have some administration staff available on Thursday night so that we can allow members easy access to voting.  Gary Hunt will hopefully introduce the applicants.

Pat Bardsley, Terry Small, Trevor Gough and Darryl Casey

Higlett/Edwards Match Play

Trevor Gough and Darryl Casey played Pat Bardsley and Terry Small in the final of this pairs handicap Match Play event last Saturday.  In what was described as a classic final, Trevor and Darryl won quite convincingly in the end 4 up with 3 to play.

Well done to both the winners and the finalists for a great effort in what is a very difficult event to win.

Richard Lowe & Scott Ireland

Playoff

A few weeks ago, two teams finished equal in the C Grade Foursomes Championship in the scratch event, requiring an 18 hole playoff.

The playoff was completed last Saturday, with Scott Ireland and Richard Lowe winning in a hard fought contest with Don Bogg and Alan Piggott.

Eagle

Dirkje Kingma

Dirkje Kingma has been a long term member.  I'm sure she won't mind me telling you her age (84 - but please don't mention it to her).

Last Wednesday, Dirkje had an Eagle on the 14th hole.  She was about 80 metres out for two and holed out.  Pretty fantastic!  Golf is full of fantastic stories.

Club Championships

  • Booking in this Thursday night for the first round.   Unlike past years, you will need to book in for each round independently (no multi-week booking).
  • Please keep social distancing in mind - with any luck it will be a nice night to sit outside at the Club.
  • Week 3 and 4 of the Championships will be qualifying for the Club Match Play Championship to be played next year at the start of February 2021.
  • Week 1 of the Championships will be a medal round.  It will be the Camden Cup for both men and women, as well as the seniors over 55 tournament postponed due to COVID sponsored by Camden Tyre Service and Bob Zelesco.  After the golf on this day, the Club will be having finger food and a prize presentation out on the back deck area - all members are welcome to come along.

Women's Golf

Women's Golf

Ladies Match Play for both Saturday and Wednesday are in full swing, and nearly winding up.  Wednesday 16th September saw the final of the Memorial Match Play which was between Wanda Kozinski and Janice Turner.  They were both all smiles and full of life after 18 holes, as I passed them at the turn, and watched them head back down the first all square.

Congratulations to Wanda Kozinski for taking it on the second.  From what I hear it was a nicely fought match!

The last 2 Saturdays has seen the Dunlop / Harding match play take place.

First Round Results:

Patricia Gleeson and Maria Thorn defeated Candice Bell and Mindy Ross.  Chris Pettitt and Ange Toto defeated Margaret Poulton and Yvonne Day.  Bernadette Johnston and Pam Dilucchio defeated a solo Pam Scutts (well done Pam for heading out and giving it a go!)

Wendy Hyndman and Anne Brady defeated Maxine Malcolm and Maureen Wackett.

Second Round Results:

Chris and Ange defeated Maria and Patricia. Wendy and Anne defeated Bernadette and Pam.

Good luck to Chris and Ange, and Wendy and Anne who play each other this weekend.

Ladies Charity Day

Ladies Charity Day - Cancelled

Sadly, we have had to cancel the Ladies Charity Day this year due to Covid restrictions. We were raising money to support the Shining Stars Foundation who do so much good work in our community supporting those who are struggling with life.

We would like to thank our sponsors for this year:  Camden Tyre Service, 32 Degrees Building, Dignan & Hanrahan, TRN Group, Hillross Macarthur, JLM Conveyancing, Quickdraw Mechanical Services, Focus Wealth Advisors, Pure Motorsport, McLaren Real Estate and The Dutchies.

We will be holding a raffle on Thursday 24th September prior to the booking ballot draw to try to raise a few more dollars to help this great local charity.  We hope all our golfing members will support this endeavour.

Around the Course

  • No preferred lies at the moment.  Members are asked to be tolerant of bad lies- particularly on 2nd, 10th and 18th.  As Club Captain Gary Hunt would say "golf isn't a fair game that's why we love it - how good is golf".
  • Still problems with a sweeping magpie on the 8th tee and snakes around the course - be aware.
  • Any member wishing to contribute information/stories to our Club history book, please contact Gary Hunt, Greg Matheson, Kim De Cean or Colleen Versluis
