Programme 2020

Golf Programme

With COVID restrictions easing, our Club's Golf Program will recommence as per the Program Booklet 2020 from Saturday, 20th June.  For members planning their schedule of playing dates, please refer to the booklet.  This means that our regular featured events, such as Foursomes, will be played as normal.  In the meantime, all COVID golf restrictions will continue - bunkers, flags, carts, ball washers, cards, score entry, buckets until further notice.  (If COVID restrictions continue into the Foursomes season, we can introduce preferred lies through the green with players only touching their own golf ball).

Cancelled

Men's Cosgrove Whear

Unfortunately, this event has been cancelled for 2020.  Prior to COVID, 32 players had qualified for the Match Play section of this event (individual handicap Match Play).  The Golf Committee has been unable to reschedule these matches due to the tight schedule in coming months and as a result there will be no matches played for this year.  Our apologies to those who qualified.

calendar icon Saturday 20th June  - Higlett Edwards Qualifying

Higlett Edwards Qualifying is this Saturday 20th June.  This event is a Men's Pairs Handicap Match Play.  32 Pairs will qualify with the first round of Match Play on the following week - 27th June.  As a result, please indicate your interest in qualifying on your card this week.

Club Match Play

The Final of the Men's A, B and C Grade Scratch Match Play Championships were also affected by the COVID restrictions.  These final matches have been rescheduled for Saturday, 27th June.  In A Grade, Lindsay Hudson will play Darren Cummins, in B Grade Brian Beaven will play John Groucutt and in C Grade Nathan Rego will play Bradley Spinks.  In the event that any of these players qualify for the first round of the Higlett Edwards Match Play event on the same day, their Club Championship match will need to be postponed.

Players not completing rounds

We have had some cases recently of players choosing not to complete their round (for a variety of reasons) and repeating this regularly. We have also had regular cases of players completing their round and simply choosing not to hand their card in.  The following outlines when non completed rounds are approved and not approved.

No Score Approved:  Approved is used as a Score Status if you have not returned a Scorecard and this has been approved by the Club.  The status of Approved is decided by a Club Official upon understanding the circumstances that lead to the round being incomplete.  Acceptable reasons include illness, bad weather or emergency.  There is no adjustment to the handicap.

No Score Not Approved:  This is used as a Score Status if a player fails to complete a round or submit a score for handicapping purposes without reasonable justification.

Note If five (5) NCR cards are returned within the most recent 20 Actual Scores, as shown on GOLF Link, then the members handicap will be marked as Provisional and the member will not be eligible to win prizes in competitions.

Adverse Weather Conditions

Adverse Weather Conditions

Please NoteWith Fog being an issue during winter, particularly for morning players, members need to be aware of the regulations covering these event:

From our Golfing By-Laws:

'a)  In the event of adverse weather conditions affecting tee times the starter will have absolute discretion in deciding if it is safe to proceed to play.  Tee times may be forfeited if it is not safe to play, in which case competition fees will be refunded.  The Pro Shop will take responsibility for the forfeit of play arrangements.

b)  In the event of adverse weather conditions affecting play, including but not limited to lightning and wind, the Pro Shop will sound a siren to discontinue play and also to resume play.

c)  Golf fees will not be refunded for non-completion of rounds due to adverse weather conditions.' (such as rain, lightning).

Last Thursday and again on Saturday, we unfortunately experienced some significant fog.  Health and safety is a priority and it is Stuart and the Pro Shop staff who are responsible for ensuring that members tee off in a safe environment.  Sometimes it means that players miss a tee time and this is unavoidable.

Blue & White Stableford Event

This Thursday Men's event was planned pre COVID, and will now be played on Thursday 9th July.
This involves players choosing, prior to their game, to play off the blue or white plates on each hole.  Handicaps will of course be adjusted accordingly.  So players may choose to play off a lower handicap but get the advantage of playing off the forward plates (white) OR choose to play off the blue plates and play off a higher handicap.  The theory is that it should not matter - but shorter hitters may see an advantage to playing off 'white', particularly on holes such as the 2nd, 8th, 9th, 12th, 13th and 16th.

This was a Golf Committee initiative and is a trial.  We hope you enjoy - there may be strategy involved in your choice.  If successful, we may trial this format on a Saturday event.

Booking In

Booking In

With COVID restrictions easing, we have decided that booking in procedures will recommence in the Clubhouse on a Thursday night at 6pm commencing on July 2nd - for Saturday July 18th (first round of Mixed Foursomes and Men's Scrambleford, Women's Stableford).  The limit on people in the Club should not be an issue, as we rarely get more than 50 in attendance each Thursday and we have other areas to utilise if social patrons are present.

On this evening, 2nd July, we will also be booking in for Saturday 11th July, (American Foursomes and Higlett Edwards K/O Round 2).

Both weeks will be booked in from 6pm at the Club and then open for online bookings from 7pm.
