Minor Interruptions During Play Over the Next Few DaysDuring Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week, there will be some truck movement around the course. The Club was offered an opportunity at short notice - the following information will explain: The company that is carrying out the work at Nott Oval (soccer field to the north of the 11th green) - the site of the new artificial surface soccer playing field, contacted the Club asking if we would like to take the soil that is being removed from the existing playing surface. They offered to shape any material that was transported to us with their equipment and assist us on site at the golf club. It sounded like a reasonable proposition for the Club. After taking a close look at the material to ensure it was suitable and following discussion with the project manager and company director, we outlined our expectations. The material is of a good quality and suitable for what we can use it for. The long term benefit will be a significant financial saving for the Club with regard to some course improvements that have previously been discussed at Board Meetings. The two (2) proposed locations will be behind and to the left of the 12th green, with some mounding being bulk shaped to create an amphitheatre type aesthetic. The other location will be a new black members tee on the 14th hole. As discussed previously, this tee will add a little bit of length to the hole and create a challenging tee shot over the corner of the dam. Both these areas will be shaped by Global Turf. The 14th tee will require some additional work down the track with a 100m soil capping and turfing, but there will be no rush on that and will only happen once the Club returns to a full operational capacity. With the 12th mounding we will put some rye grass seed over it for quick establishment if need be. There will also be a good amount of kikuyu in the soil which will establish itself over time. It will just need to be a compulsory GUR with drop zones until it grows in. Cartage will be commencing Thursday 21st May at 8am and continue Friday and Saturday, weather permitting. We have made them well aware that all three (3) days will be busy on the course. At this stage we will bring the trucks in from Camden Valley Way and up beside the driving range for the 14th and up around JB's (large shed) for the 12th. This may interrupt play in a minor way for players in these areas. |
