Improve Your Long Game

Improve Your Long Game

Improve Your Long Game is a skin cancer prevention campaign for men over 40 in NSW golf clubs. The program is part funded by Cancer Institute NSW and aims to improve sun protection behaviours.

"It's never too late to reduce the risk of melanoma. Look out for yourself, look out for your mates and improve your long game."
-     Paul Gow, Pro Golfer and Cancer Council NSW Ambassador.

In NSW men over the age of 40 are 1.5 times likely to be diagnosed and about twice as likely to die of melanoma as women of a similar age.

Maria Thorn

Vicki Beaven Match Play

Congratulations to Maria Thorn on her victory in the final of the Vicki Beaven Match Play last week.

A great effort by Kim DeCean in making the final, however Maria proved too strong in an excellent performance, with victory coming on the 15th green.

Volunteers Report

A small team of Phil Bevington, Jan Domanski & Pete Tanner turned up to attend to garden mulching.

Unfortunately, our usual equipment was in use by greens staff. So, undeterred, we decided to take on the LHS gardens at the 2nd basically by hand. Just a few rakes, pitch fork and small workman vehicle.

A hot day but luckily Pete Southby was around to assist with water deliveries and words of encouragement.

Thanks Pete, the water was most beneficial.
