Club Championship Report:

With one round to go, what an exciting finale is in prospect in most grades, although we do have a few runaway leaders. The top scores are:

Junior Pennant Report

Week 1 Round = Camden -v- Wentworth Falls @ Penrith - Camden Won 3.5/1.5

Brandon Vella won 1 up; Declan Hobbs won 2/1, Nicholas Zelesco Lost 1 Down, Matthew Greene, Square; Noah Graham Square; Ryan Sattler Square.

All boys played well in this first round with a good start to the season.

Week 2 Round - Camden -v- Penrith @ Stonecutters Ridge - Camden Lost 5.5/.5 Conditions were atrocious with lots of water on ground, bunkers out of play.  All other rounds were cancelled except ours and the Penrith boys were back to a full team and played very well.  Our boys fought hard but 5 went down and Noah Graham squared on the last hole which is great to see his determination.

Results:- Brandon Vella lost 5/4; Declan Hobbs lost 4/2; Nicholas Zelesco lost 6/5; Matthew Greene lost 4/2; Noah Graham Square; Geordie Taylor lost 4/2.

Again very hard conditions for the boys and looking forward to bouncing back this week at Wentworth Falls.

Week 3 was a case of 'you won't believe this'.  A long trip up to Wentworth Falls, only to have the match called off due to fog - yes fog - at 1pm.  So a draw was the unfortunate result in a match we were very likely to win. Next week is a big one.

Around the Course

  • Members are asked to safely use the practice driving range, by restricting shots to a maximum of 200 metres uphill.  In recent times we have had some near misses for people walking from the 6th green to the 7th tee, as well as some male members moving off the 7th teebox.
  • With grass growth improving significantly fairways are looking very good.  However, we still need to be vigilant with divot repair. Don't forget your hole for special attention.
  • The entire hole 9 and the green and hazard surrounds on hole 8 will be a priority over the next 2 months.  There will be some prep work prior to laying new turf and securing safe passage for carts.
  • The greens on 5, 7, 10 and 17 are beginning to improve. Congratulations to Issac and his team for the significant effort to improve these priority areas.
  • A big thank you to the 'bird chasers' who are out each afternoon chasing the corellas Bob Preston, Brian Thorn, Barry OSullivan, Nicholas Zelesco, Peter Legge and anyone else who I should have mentioned.
  • Please, please, please. Keep carts away from the greens and tees.

Helping Hands

Special Olympics Fundraiser, Rotary Fundraiser & Women's Golf Fundraiser

Over the past two weeks we have had three fundraising events at our Club.  A number of our members participated in each, while some participated in all three.

It is with pride that we support charities that in turn support those in our community who are less able.

The Special Olympic Fundraiser was an enormous success, the highlight being the introduction of some of the athletes who were eager to participate in the after golf activities.  Hitting a golf ball off a queen mattress and putting with a hockey stick were just some of the difficulties and highlights of the day.  Great job Ray and your team.

The Rotary Day was also a magnificent demonstration of the power of this fantastic community support organisation. Some great chipping competitions and Stu Meani driving onto the 18th green were amongst the Golfing highlights. Great job Stephen and your team.

For all events, the course was very well presented, well done Issac and team, while Stu and his team did a wonderful job with the golfing and presentation aspects.

2018 Ladies Charity Day - Report We would like to thank members and visitors for their generous support towards our 2018 Charity Day.  We were raising funds for a local Macarthur Charity 'Shining Stars Foundation', who support destitute and desperate individuals across the Macarthur area.  They receive no government assistance so need every dollar we can spare.  We are pleased to be able to give them over $10000 to help them in their valuable work.

The day was wonderful - perfect weather and the course was at its best - well done Ground staff.  A highlight of the day was our Champagne hole where two wonderful golfers, our Trainee Pro Adriana and Greg "Super Girl" Matheson showed us how to do a great drive.  No hole in one this year but we have great hopes for our next charity day!

Thanks to all involved in contributing to the success of the day. Colleen Versluis.
