Golf Medal

December Medal

Congratulations to the following members who won their grade in the December Medal last Saturday.  Some excellent scores and each of these players has now qualified for the Medal of Medals for 2022.

Women:

  • Women A Grade - Bernadette Johnston (77)
  • Women B Grade - Pamela Dilucchio (78)
  • Women C Grade - Angela Toto (75)

Men:

  • Men A Grade - Chris Zanoni (66)
  • Men B Grade - Ken Dilucchio (66)
  • Men C Grade - Bruce Hanrahan (65)

Medal of Medals Winners for 2021

A reminder that this is a particularly hard event to win.  Firstly, players must win a Medal during the year.  Secondly, they must have the best nett score on the day (of those who qualified).  So a big congratulations to the winners from last week.

Men's Medal of Medal Winner 2021 - Chris Zanoni

Women's Medal of Medals Winner 2021 - Angela Toto

Recent Stableford Scores

A bit hard for us mere mortals to win events recently, when wining scores have looked like this:

  • 46 points Saturday 20th (Mark Baker)
  • 47 points Thursday 25th (Robert Townsend)
  • Mitchell Arnold and Robbie Minns both shooting 4 under par scratch (25th)
  • 47 points Monday 29th in Pro Comp (Ian McKenzie)
  • Michael Bell Thursday 2nd - 4 under par scratch (back tees)
  • Bruce Hanrahan - Nett 65 last Saturday

Maybe Justin will get us all 'back' when the greens are hard and fast in the not too distant future.

Libby Newcombe

Congratulations to Libby Newcombe

Libby won the trophy (pictured right) at a recent junior event in Goulburn.  The Brett Ogle Junior Masters, Under 12/13 Nett Champion.

Good job Libby!

'Challenge of Challenges' Winner - Paul Daly

Having won a Thursday 'challenge' during the year, Paul had a good round of 38 points last Thursday which was enough to beat the other Challenge winners who qualified.

Well done Paul!

December Challenge Winner - Max Johnston

40 (cb) and will now qualify for next year's 'Challenge of Challenges'.

Men's Summer Cup

(B Grade only) this Saturday.  Stableford for all.

Booking in - Christmas Ambrose

Book In This Thursday Night

We will be booking in for our Christmas Ambrose (18th December) this Thursday night at the Club.  This is one of the most popular events of the year, so make sure you get your team organised and it might be advisable to be in the Club for the 6pm lottery.  The usual prizes will be on offer on the day - hams and wine.

Also, members who won major events during the year (of course COVID impacted - so there aren't that many) will be presented with their awards after play ('am' players will receive their award at the morning presentation, and 'pm' players will receive their award at the afternoon presentation).

Book In for the Following Saturdays in the Club

Dates are as follows:

  • 1st January play - book in on the 16/12
  • 8th January play - book in on the 23/12
  • 15th January play - book in on the 30/12

All members are asked to book golf carts over this Christmas period to avoid disappointment especially on long weekends.

Wet Golf Days

Just a reminder to all members.  When weather conditions are poor and you may have decided not to play, it is essential that you contact the Pro Shop and inform them that you are not playing. Failure to do so makes organisation of groupings impossible for Stu and his team.  Do not assume that they would understand that you are not playing.

Corellas

The Birds are Back

If you haven't already  noticed, our corella friends are back in big numbers.  At this stage it has mainly been fairways and rough being targeted, however some damage is also occurring on a few greens.  This will only get worse.

We are looking for some help - anyone wishing to assist in the afternoons by becoming a 'bird chaser' - please let Justin Bradbury, Gary Hunt or Stu Meani know.

We currently have a wonderful group of volunteers, but we need more.

History of Camden Golf Club

The team involved in the production of a 75th Anniversary book about our Club has been slowly accumulating information.  We have a few years before it is due for completion.

I recently received some further information from ex Club Professional, Chris Tickner.  While he was doing a house cleanup, Chris found a NSW Golf Magazine from 1971.  The edition included a feature on Camden Golf Club and its beginnings.

Current members would be 'happy' to know that in 1971, the joining fee was $22 and the annual membership fee was $21.

Adrian New & Family

Thanks - Adrian New Fundraiser

The Adrian New Fundraiser Golf Event played on Saturday 6th November proved to be a very worthwhile event with $10,725.65 raised to go directly to Adrian's young family.

We would to thank everyone who played and donated on the day - your generosity  is sincerely appreciated.
