Booking In

As a result of the current COVID lockdown, booking in procedures will have the following changes:
Booking in for Saturdays: For the next two Thursday nights, there will be no booking in at all (at the club or online).

On Thursday 15th July, we will then have a double 'book in' for the Foursomes on 17th July and the Stableford on the 24th (hopefully at the Club).

On Thursday 22/7 we will book in for Saturday 31st July and August 7.

Booking in for Wednesdays and Thursdays: For the next two weeks bookings will be done online.

Thursday bookings (men) will open at 5pm each Thursday.  Wednesday (women) bookings as usual at 2.30pm.

We are hoping that the lockdown will be completed on the 9th July (as planned) to allow the above plan to proceed successfully. In the event of changes to lockdown, we will advise members of new arrangements.

Changes to Play during COVID

Players may share golf carts however, when sharing a cart players must wear a mask as they are unable to social distance.  Also only one player is to be the designed driver of the cart for the entire round and the passenger must remain on the passenger's side of the cart.

Members are advised to check with the Proshop regarding any other changes that may be introduced.  It is possible that rules relating to flags, bunker rakes, cards, group sizes may all be reintroduced.

Paying Your Fees

Members wishing to pay their members fees may do so by on-line payment or by contacting the administration office on 4646 1203 between 9am and 4pm.

Wednesday 30th June is the last day to receive your '2 x Complimentary Cart Hire Vouchers' when paying your fees.

Divot on 15th Green

Divots

It is disappointing to see golfers choosing to take out their frustrations on the greens during a competition round.

This divot on the 15th green occurred on Saturday 19th June.  It is also very frustrating to think that a member of the Club feels this is acceptable behaviour.  Please understand that its not the greens fault you missed the putt.

Masters Pennants

The final round played on Sunday 20th June was against the strong Campbelltown team at home. In order to win our section, we needed a 5 1/2 to 2 1/2 win as a minimum. Fortunately, after a very close match with the final two games going to the last hole, Camden Masters Team won 6-2. Team Managers Bob Zelesco and Noel Beattie had a very nervous afternoon, but were very happy by the end of the day.

Next week is a semi final of Division 3 against a strong Woolooware team, who won their section, with the winner qualifying for the final and also automatic promotion to Division 2 next year - so a great deal is at stake.

Individual Results:

  • Darren Cummins - 3/2 loss
  • Greg Matheson - 6/5 win
  • Chris Zanoni - 1 up win
  • David Jansen - 2 up win
  • Rob Bolton - 3/2 win
  • Duncan Skinner - 2/1 loss
  • Neville Hoskin - 4/3 win
  • Gary Hunt - 6/5 win
Semi Final of Division 3 V Woolooware at Springwood Golf Course.

All members of the team prepared well for this match, with everyone travelling to Springwood at least once prior to the match to familiarise themselves with the course.  Unfortunately, this preparation was not rewarded due to the postponement of the match as a result of COVID restrictions and the subsequent decision to change the venue for the following week to Riverside Oaks. Unfortunately, further restrictions will prevent this from occurring also.

Cosgrove Whear

In cold and miserable conditions, the semi final of the Cosgrove was played on Saturday 19th. In two close matches, the finalists were determined with Lincon McLaren having a win over Shaun Cahill, while David McDermott was successful against Darin Leis (the boys in winter gear below).

Final - Played on Saturday 26th, under sunny skies, David and Lincon went head to head in the final.  A fantastic effort to get to this point, having firstly qualified and then winning 4 sudden death matches along the way.  At the half way point, there was nothing in it, with David leading one up. In the end, David McDermott was successful, winning on the 17th hole for a 2/1 victory over Lincon McLaren.

In his group (South West Sydney) there were eight (8) entries with three (3) making it through to the state finals, which Oliver qualified for.

They have to play off their exact handicaps, Oliver is off 46, and the event was played at Georges River GC par 70.

Oliver shot 98 scratch (28 over), he was 2nd in his group for scratch with a nett score of 52, which he ran 1st in his group.

Also on the day Sydney East, Sydney West and Sydney South West played out the day as a tournament sponsored by Jack Newton Golf.

There were 34 kids playing on the day with handicaps ranging from 6 to 46 and Oliver ran 9th in scratch overall and 1st in nett overall for the day making him the nett winner for the PSSA.
