New Trees

  • All recently planted trees/shrubs that have plastic tree bags or guards around them are to be treated as staked shrubs regardless of whether they have a stake or not and our local rule compulsorily applied (free drop).
  • Some shrubs on the mounds left of the 1st hole no longer have stakes.  Hence no relief available under the local rule.  Many thanks to Arthur Kelly for his continued great work around the course.

From the Pro Shop

The local rule board has moved.  It is now on the whiteboard in the middle of the shop.  Last Saturday was much improved place of play as well as arriving at the tee on time - let's keep up the good work.

Peter Legge

Congratulations

Well done to Peter Legge on his victory in the Nett 75-80 years at the 2021 Super Seniors Championships played at Toukley Golf Club (10th May).

I know most members will be shocked that Peter would be eligible for this age group (doesn't look a day over 60).

Great effort Pete!

Masters Pennant Report

(Proudly sponsorsed by Camden Dunlop Super Dealer and ADMARK Constructions)
The Bob Zelesco/Noel Beattie led Masters Pennant side began its season with a very strong win at home against Antill park last Sunday.  7 points to 1 was an excellent start to our year.  New players to the team David Jansen, Captain Duncan Skinner and Noel Wood all had wins in their first game.  (Duncan also won the toss).

Next week is an away game against Antill Park, where we expect a much tougher match, although our team will be strengthened by the inclusion of our number one player, Darren Cummins, after he missed the opening match.

Individual Match Results:

  • Chris Zanoni - 6/5 win
  • Greg Matheson - 6/5 win
  • David Jansen - 3/2 win
  • Rob Bolton - 5/3 win
  • Duncan Skinner - 6/5 win
  • Noel Wood - 1 up win
  • Peter Nonnenmacher - 2 down loss
  • Gary Hunt - 6/5 win

A great win for the team today, pleasant weather conditions and the course is looking fantastic. Thanks to Justin & his staff especially with all the wet weather we have had of late!  Welcome to first timer Raymond in mixed pennants, having never played match play before and combined really well with Maxine for a great win.  Neale and Pam were lucky to square their match on 18th after being down.  Mark & Susan fought back to square their match also on the 18th. Ken & Maria played well (according to Ken - Maria played fantastic) and made some great putts when needed. Jason & Chris combined well to have their second win.  Duane & Bernadette were lucky to square their match after being 4 up and almost finishing in the dark.

Thanks also to Neale for filling in this week and to Dennis for teeing us off, handing out the vouchers and arranging the food order with the kitchen staff.

Camden Cup

The Camden Cup, for both male and female players, is next Saturday 29th May.  This will be the first occasion that both events will be held at the same time.  The course will play long and with firm, hard greens.  Even par will come close to winning both - best of luck to all the 'locals' - we will have some serious competition from the visitors.

Entries close 5pm Monday 24th May 2021.

Lindsay Hudson

Welcome Lindsay Hudson

We would like to give a warm welcome to the newest addition in our Greens team - Lindsay Hudson.  Lindsay commenced his employment with us on the 11th May as a Greenkeeper.

Lindsay has enjoyed a long association with Camden Golf Club having joined the Club as a junior back in 1998.  Since then Lindsay has gone on to win many championships including Club Champion on three (3) occasions.  If you don't already know Lindsay you would have at least seen his name on the Club's honour board where it appears an impressive 10 times.

Don't forget to say "hi" to Lindsay when you see him 'out and about' on the course.

Club President Andrew Moyle & Garry Wackett

Our 11th Dam

Long-term golfing member Garry Wackett (pictured right with Club President Andrew Moyle [L]) has kindly donated the pictured framed images of our 11th dam.

The image on the left shows our 11th dam amidst the drought in January 2020 and the image on the right shows our 11th dam after the 'big wet' in March 2021.  Very contrasting images indeed.

The framed picture will be displayed above/near the golf screens in the Clubhouse.

A big thank you to Garry for his thoughtful and generous donation, it is very much appreciated.

Welfare Report

Val Jameson has been absent from the Club for quite some time due to a serious illness.

After an extended hospital stay and receiving treatment it's great to see Val back at the Golf Club.

Val is hoping to play some 9 hole practice rounds in the the coming weeks.

Renovations Continue....

We are currently in the process of extending our outdoor area and members should see a slab being laid sometime next week.  We also have some new furniture arriving in July that will complete the look in our new marquee.

In addition to the above we have acquired a container bar and, if all goes to plan, it will be up and running this weekend.

Upwards and onwards for Camden Golf Club!
