US Masters Day

Robert Strange (must be related to Curtis based on this round) and Lincon McLaren were the big golf winners. Unfortunately, no Aussie big winners at the Masters, although a great showing by Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith to gain a top 10 finish.

Great day was had by all.

Representing Camden this year were the following players:

  • A Grade - Robbie Minns
  • B Grade - Jake Newcombe
  • C Grade - David Young

The result - Antill were the winners at their home course with 19 1/2 points, we were 2nd with 18 1/2 points, Lakeside 3rd with 12 points and Campbelltown 4th with 10 points. Well done David and Jake who won their group. It was great to see three of our younger members representing the club in A, B and Junior categories - then there was the oldies - sorry Kendell.

Camden Women's Charity Day - 2021

On Monday 19th April the ladies held their Annual Charity Day, which was raising funds for Shining Stars Foundation. We had a full field of 116 ladies who rocked up to play in the days event - a 4 Person Ambrose. The weather was perfect, the champagne on the 12th was flowing (thanks to Bev Chapman and Maggie Brent who were our official pourers for the day!). The day ran smoothly, and the atmosphere both on the course and in the clubhouse after was that of great positivity! The total funds raised for Shining Stars Foundation was $12,654 - an incredible effort by all!

We had Adriana Macdonald and Greg Matheson out on the 12th bombing drives for the ladies on the green - there was nearly a hole in one for Greg - close, but not close enough! An enormous amount of thanks goes to both Adriana and Greg for your time and your skill.

Results for the day are as follows:

  • 1st Nett: Jacinta Maas, Bernadette Johnston, Ann Morrell & Leanne Stanton (58.375)
  • 1st Scratch: Sue Marsh, Candice Bell, Melinda Ross & Wendy Hydnman (69 C/B)
  • 2nd Nett: Rita De Jong, Maria Thorn, Dirkje Kingma & Carol Daniels (59.875)
  • 3rd Nett: Wanda Kozinski, Shelley Chapman, Patricia Morrison & Judy Page (60.3875)

For a day like Monday to go ahead there is a whole village of people that are working relentlessly behind the scenes. First and foremost, thanks must go to Annie Brady and Geri Beaven who for the last three months have rallied to collect donations from local companies for our generous prize pool. They have also worked tirelessly with me to ensure that the running of the day was flawless.

The following all had a hand in making the day the success that it was, so thank you:

  • The ladies committee for helping with setup and pack down.
  • Sharon and the Camden team for setting up tables, liaising with the kitchen, etc.
  • Stuart Meani - for organizing cards and carts.
  • Camden Women Golfers - for your generous donations for both prizes and raffles.

And last, but not least - where would we be without our Sponsors. A large portion of our funds raised are from our hole sponsors. We are greatly appreciative of your support.

Gold Sponsors:
Camden Tyre Service, JLM Conveyancing & Quickdraw Mechanical Services.

Silver Sponsors:
Crown Electrical & INET Pty Ltd.

Bronze Sponsors:
Veneer Stone, Admark Constructions, TRN Group, Focus Wealth Advisers, Dignan & Hanrahan Solicitors & Rita and Dirkje.

Thank you to all Ladies that participated in the days event - whether it be playing golf or coming and enjoying lunch with us all. The money raised, and the days success is a true testament to the 'village' we have at Camden Golf Club.

The following picture was taken by Mitch Arnold, who just happened to be mowing the fringe on the 12th green. In previous years, Adriana and Skye (incredibly) got a hole in one from the tee box 220 metres away. Greg was on a bet with Adriana that he could match her - not even close!

NSW Seniors Report:

As we go to press, (Wednesday evening), I can report that Bob Zelesco has made the 'cut' in the NSW Seniors Tournament being played at Shoalhaven and Nowra Golf Courses. After two rounds, the men's field was reduced from 195 to 90 players. This was an excellent effort due to the high quality of the field from NSW and interstate.  Well done Bobby - have a good final round on Thursday.
