Book In for Saturday 16th January

Due to new COVID restrictions (and New Year's Eve) bookings for 16th January will be on-line only from 6pm on Thursday 31st December.

Sad News

Long term member Shuki Borthwick sadly passed away just prior to Christmas.  Unfortunately we don't have service details at the moment, but will pass them on ASAP.

Shuki was a wonderful man, always with a smile and a great supporter of the Club.  He was the School Principal at Mawarra Primary School for many years.  He will be sadly missed by family, friends, thousands of ex students and the golfing community here.

Hole In One

Hole In One News

I've decided - it must be easy.  Two hole in ones to report from last Thursday, on Christmas Eve.

James Hislop scored an ace on the 16th, his second, while yours truly had his first ever ace on the 6th.

It may have been the big man in red with a few early deliveries, but James and I were more than happy with our early Christmas present.

To make it even more enjoyable, Gary Hunt was complaining about the easy pin placements on the day and was complaining even more when I reminded him of his wife's hole in one a few weeks ago - Gary hasn't had one yet, in case you didn't know.

Players Wanted

Pennants

Players who would like to represent the Club in Major Pennants and Mixed Pennants please note - there is a sign up sheet next to the score entry computers for members to add their name.

We seem to be short on both, but particularly for our Major Pennant team.  The Majors will be playing Muirfield, Woolooware and Springwood home and away, with the first match to be played at home against Springwood on the 31st January.

Reminder

A simple reminder regarding the need to sign your card after completing your round.  Even though you have entered your score into the computer, your partner's and your signature on the card is a must to avoid DQ.

Corellas

Course

We are having issues with the corellas again.  Fortunately damage to greens has been less than in past years, so far, although a few of our fairways seem to be getting a lot of attention - particularly number 8.

If you have any free time to help keep the birds away from our greens please contact Peter Legge or  Donna Bernard.

Playing Tip

Many members are having trouble hitting out of the thick spongy grass at the side and back of a number of our greens.  Think of accelerating the club head on these shots - if you decelerate, the ball is unlikely to come out.

Greg Matheson

Thanks Greg

We would like everyone to join us in giving a huge thanks to Greg Matheson, our Golfing E-News Journalist who generously gives so much of his time gathering information and putting together our Golfing E-News each fortnight.

We truly appreciate the time and effort Greg puts into every Golfing E-News. Thanks Greg.  Job well done!
