Women's Studley Cup

After constant rain in the days prior to Round 1, the heavy conditions were not conducive to good scores.  Leading the Nett after the first round was Sue Marsh and Janice Turner with very good scores of 74.  This gave them a solid 5 stroke lead over a trio of players, Anne Brady, Val Jameson and Lyn Dredge.

The scratch leader was Shelley Chapman, closely followed by Wanda Kozinski, Sue Marsh and Candice Bell.

Round 2 - The last fortnight has seen a few different events take place on the women's calendar.  Wednesday 9th July was the start of the midweek Studley Cup, to be held over 3 rounds.  Well done to the following women who are leading after 2 rounds:

Division A:

Scratch:

Shelley Chapman - 180

Candice Bell - 184

Nett:

Sue Marsh - 152

Candice Bell - 160

Division B:

Scratch:

Anne Brady - 198

Patricia Gleeson - 202

Nett:

Janice Turner - 153

Anne Brady - 156

Division C:

Scratch:

Dianne Markow - 233

Ann Morrell - 234

Nett:

Dianne Markow - 161

Susan Byrne - 166

A seeded group for all divisions next week should make for interested (and close) golf.

  • Wednesday 29th July & Saturday 1st August, women had the choice to compete for the GolfNSW Goodwill Plate.  The best score over both days was Sue Marsh, with 74, beating both Candice and Janice on a count back.  Well done Sue, looking at the Studley Cup results, some fine golf is being played.
  • This coming Saturday is the first of the Dunlop/Harding Match Play.  Cards will be done for you, and ready to be picked up at the Pro Shop when you pay.  Good luck to all playing.

Kind regards,
Shelley Chapman.

Brett Moyes - Hole-In-One

Hole in One

Long term member and Board of Directors member, Brett Moyes had a hole in one in the Friday 9 hole competition last week.  It happened on the 6th hole.

As you can see, it made a bit of a mess of the hole - not that Brett was concerned; I'm sure he repaired it as best he could.

Well done Brett!

Around the Course

  • Members will have noticed that the soil that had been stored in piles in various locations around the course has now been spread into final resting places.  The 12th green surrounds has mounding, a garden bed nearer the 13th tee and a future grass bunker area at the front of the mounding on the left. The bare patches in the ditch areas on 8, 11 and 12 have been improved and the 14th tee box has now been shaped also.
  • Carts:  When members hire a cart they need to return it back to where they got it from (in front of the Pro Shop) and the key  needs to be returned.  We have had a couple of carts parked in some unusual sports where I think they may have been taken for joy rides.
  • Changes on the 8th hole:  Removal and relocation of rocks and plants in front of 8th green.  The area will be filled with some soil and turfed.  It will still serve as a swale and surface drain in heavy rain events.  At the moment it will still be regarded as a penalty area and it is highly advised not to go in there because it is a little 'rough' at this stage.

Survey - Please Complete

Club Presentation Night

At a recent Golf Committee Meeting, the issue of prizes at Presentation Night was discussed.  There were differing opinions as to what a worthy and 'just' prize might look like for members who have won a major event.  It was felt that members should have input into what winners should receive at our annual awards night.  As a result, members are asked to complete the attached short survey.  It should take about 2 minutes and will help direct our team moving forward.

Thank you, in advance, for taking the time.
