Major Pennant Report:

Not a good fortnight for our Major Pennant team. A closely fought home 4-3 loss to a strong Cumberland side was followed by a disappointing 7-0 loss away to Cumberland last Sunday. Despite the loss last week, some strong performances against quality players should give the team some confidence for their next home game this week. We will need a strong finish to the season to guarantee our place in Division 3 next year, commencing with a home match this Sunday against Brighton Lakes (New Brighton). Spectators are more than welcome to support the team - matches commence on the first tee at 11.00am.

Individual Results:

Lindsay Hudson - 6/4 loss

James Hislop - 2 up win

Daniel Hoare - 3/2 loss

Matt Ferreira - 3/1 win

Mixed Pennants

Mixed Pennants Report:

Sunday 23rd February - Final Round Mixed Pennants against Bexley

What a day to win!.... We played Bexley this weekend, the undefeated Division winners, undefeated until they met us at home that is. Our team played amazingly well and got away with a 3.5-1.5 win - and a win from the reserves. Whilst we haven't performed overly great throughout the season, it is like the cherry on the top to win at home, against an undefeated team. Well done Team!.

Individual Match Results:

Ash Birkin & Candice Bell - Won 5/4

Gary Hunt & Maria Thorn - Squared

Billy Bell & Pam Dilucchio - Won 2 up

Jason Morton & Corrina Hunt - lost 3/1

Duane & Bernadette Johnston - Won 3/1

Ken Dilucchio & Chris Pettitt - Won 6/5 (Reserves).

From Chris and myself, we just want to say a massive thank you to the team for the fun, fellowship and laughs. Next year is a new year, and hopefully more ours. But thanks for your support and availability throughout this year's pennants season.

Cheers, Shelley Chapman

Men's Matchplay Report:

Some excellent Matchplay quarter finals were completed last Saturday, with some very interesting matchups this week in the semifinals in all three grades.

  • In A Grade, reigning champion Darren Cummins will play Joel Berrell in one semi, while Michael O'Toole will play Lindsay Hudson in the other.
  • In B Grade, Ken Dilucchio will play Brian Beavan in one semi final, while Jason Lees will meet John Groucutt in the other match.
  • In C Grade, Michael Vance will play Nathan Rego, while Steve Turvey and Bradley Spinks will meet in the second semi.
For all results so far in the Matchplay, check the notice board in the club.

Around the Course:

  • One of our members thought it appropriate to inform us that a black snake has made the rocks near the 16th walkway home. Just be careful around all parts of the course, particularly in long rough and wooded areas-despite being Autumn, the snakes are still out and about.
  • The course is looking great at the moment after good rain, with more rain (unfortunately) late this week. Six weeks ago we would never have complained about getting 20 mls - the fickle nature of golf course management. Many thanks to our Greens staff - they have clearly been working overtime cutting grass that grows so quickly - but a great problem to have.
  • Thanks also to our volunteers. A great job on the third tee box, plus other initiatives around the course. Gordy Bray, by all accounts, was the star performer mastering the brickwork edging on the third. Great job guys. The Volunteers produce a regular report on their activities which can be found on the club's website.
  • Arthur Kelly has been busy on the 4th hole lately - working on the mound to the left of the tee box and chopping down some dead trees. Looks great 'Kell'.
  • Divots - after a season of dusty dry fairways, we now have a responsibility to keep our beautiful green grass in good order. Too often lately, I have noticed cart users dropping off a player to hit a shot and then driving to the second player ball - this is great for speed of play but unless the first player takes their club AND a bucket, it is not great for filling divots.
