Recent Events

The 2nd Qualifying round for the Men's Matchplay was played last Saturday, 1st February. Some amazing scores from the first round of qualifying , with 36 players scoring less than 82 scratch, meaning the competition was very hot to qualify in the top 16 in A Grade, while B and C Grade was also very open. With hot being the operative word, players were met with a 45 degree Celsius day for the second round. So congratulations to all players who managed to complete their round. The Matchplay commences this Saturday, with some great match ups occurring. Best of luck to all players.

Mixed Pennants

Mixed Pennants Rounds 3 and 4 have not been kind to our team, with Camden fighting hard to qualify for the next KO stage. A 4-1 loss two weeks in a row at Bexley and Bardwell Valley has meant that we need a strong finish and a great deal of luck in order to qualify.

Men's Major Pennants

Men's Major Pennants have been preparing for the start of their pool matches. Round 1 is an away game against Bayview this Sunday, 9th February, while our first home game against Bayview on Sunday, 16 February. It would be wonderful to see more supporters.

Great to see Pam Scutts, fit, healthy and shooting the lights out again. 42 stableford points in the heat last Saturday was impressive, to win by seven points.

Course News

  • The Fairways are showing significant signs of growth after recent rain, the greens are looking as good as they ever have at this time of the year, while the dams are pretty full. With solid rain due over the next few days, the course will be at its best very soon. Well done to the Greens staff. Please read Justin Bradbury's Report.
  • A reminder that the preferred lies include the gully on the 8th fairway - however, your ball needs to be between the blue line indicators. If unsure of your relative position, ask your marker for guidance.
  • Bunker rake reminder - please place in the flat section of the bunker, away from the edges, with rake placed in the direction of play.
  • Whilst on bunkers, please enter from the flattest section. We have had recent cases of Raking using the back of the rake should be used on bunker walls - this will encourage a firmer compact sand, resulting in less plugs in the wall.
  • With the new tee in play on the second hole for men, players should play a provisional ball if they are unsure if their ball has cleared the penalty area - the carry has clearly become more difficult.
  • Many thanks to the Club leadership team for providing water to players during last Saturday's heat wave. It was appreciated.

Justin Bradbury's Greens Report

  • Greens to this point in the summer are performing well. Mowing height is at 3.5mm and this has assisted with handling the summer stress.
  • As dam levels began to drop in early summer, greens became the priority for overnight irrigation cycles.
  • All applications are up to date and greens in good health with a nice strong root structure.
  • Greens are regularly being checked for moisture levels and hand watered accordingly
  • On days when the temperature has been forecast to exceed 35 degrees the greens are not mowed to assist them survive the extreme heat. This is part of our summer management plan.
  • Unfortunately, we have been suffering some severe damage from the corellas on numerous greens.
