Course Renovations

Greens Renovations Update

Due to the heavy rain last Thursday to Monday, the Renovations were not done (apart from the practice greens).  As a result, the greens will remain in 'normal condition' for this week.

The Renovations will now be completed on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th March.  On these days, the course will be closed.

Call Up on the Ninth

Commencing this week, members are invited to call up on the 9th hole.  This hole has been a bottleneck over the last 12 months. Please stand behind the safety fencing provided, prior to calling up.

Drinks Cart

Just a reminder that the drinks cart is available on Saturdays from 11am till 3pm.

Due to licensing issues, soft drinks and water may be purchased, while beer must be pre-ordered through the bar prior to your play.

Sunday Mixed/Medley Events

We are introducing some Sunday events this year.  The first event is coming up - Sunday 7th April.  It is a stableford medley.  You can book online NOW.  The event will be for visitors also, so invite your friends from other clubs.

Flag

Taking the Ball Out of the Hole

Players who are putting with the flag left in, please note.  We have noticed that the area immediately surrounding the hole/hole edging, can easily be damaged if players remove the ball from the hole without taking the flag out. For the benefit of all players, please remove the flag prior to retrieval of the ball.

US Masters

Masters Breakfast

All players, who are not working on a Monday, or who can get a morning off, are invited to play in our regular US Masters event on Monday, 15th April.

Watch the final holes of the Masters, of course hoping for an Aussie to be up there with a chance of winning the Green Jacket, whilst enjoying breakfast and coffee in the Club, followed by an 18 hole golf event at Camden Augusta National. Finishing up with a delicious lunch and presentation.

Members $50 | Visitors $60.  Bookings essential phone 4646 1203.

Look for promotional information in the Pro shop and club notice board.

Fair Play

In recent months, the club captain has had a number of disturbing complaints from members regarding alleged cheating during competition play.  One of the great aspects of our game is the honesty code. As a player, we ask that you respect the ideals and the challenges of our game.  As a marker of another players card, it is your role to ensure fairness and protect the integrity of the game.

Should players have concerns about the manner in which their playing partners are abiding by the rules of the game, please communicate these concerns to the Golf Committee/ Club Captain, Gary Hunt.

Pennant Report

The equation was simple.  Two strong wins and hope for some favours in the other matches.  Camden certainly lived up to the first requirement.  A comprehensive 6-1 victory against Campbelltown at home in Round 5 left us a half win behind the leaders, Manly.  It was great to see so many members out on the course supporting our team and the boys didn't let us down. Some of the matches finished very early as a result of strong performances.

Individual Round 5 results:

  • Michael Bell - 4/3 win
  • Dean Mulley - 1 up win
  • Lindsay Hudson - 8/7 win
  • Mitchell Arnold - 6/5 win
  • Michael O'Toole - 2/1 win
  • Brett Moyes - 3/1 win
  • Daniel Meldrum - 1 down loss

Round 6 v Campbelltown at Campbelltown

Another strong win was required by our team and either a Wakehurst victory over Manly or a draw in that match in this, the final week of the group stage.

Unfortunately the weather intervened and both games were cancelled. As a result, Manly won the division, with Camden a close second.

Many thanks to the team for a solid season, all caddies who contributed to player comfort, and the team manager Brett Moyes for his guidance and organisation.

A most unfortunate end to the season.

Club Match Play Championships

A Grade

Congratulations to Darren Cummins who won the club championship last week in a 36 hole match against Greg Matheson. Darren dominated the match with 8 birdies and 3 bogeys in a class display of golf.  5 under par over 31 holes is normally going to 'destroy' your opponent, and it did. 6/5 final score.

B Grade

Congratulations to Peter White on a solid victory over Jaiden Shaw 4/2.  Peter has been a long term member of the club and must have played some solid golf in defeating the big hitting Shaw.  Maybe his time as Major Pennant Manager taught him some important lessons about Matchplay.  Well done.

C Grade

Congratulations to Alan Chaperlin for a strong win over Gary Brown, 4/3. Chapo must be a tough one to play in Match Play. Qualifying in seventh place, he took down all the big seeds in an excellent display.  Well done Alan.

Ladies Open Day

On Monday 11th March the Club hosted its Ladies Open Day.  We had a field of 56 players, including ladies from the following clubs: Campbelltown, Glenmore, Wallacia, The Grange and Lakeside.

Thanks must go to the Ladies Committee who helped facilitate this day, but also to the members that came and competed in the event.  All that were involved seemed to enjoy their day on the course.

Winners on the day were:

2B Aggregate

1st:  Susan Goodall & Colleen Versluis - 71 Pts
2nd:  Christine Green & Janice Turner  - 67 Pts
3rd:  Kendell Hunt & Corrina Hunt - 64 Pts

Individual Stableford
A Grade - Nett : Shelley Chapman - 33 Pts
A Grade - Gross: Kendell Hunt - 28 Pts

B Grade - Nett: Christine Green - 36 Pts
B Grade - Gross: Geneva Marsden (Campbelltown) - 16 Pts

C Grade - Nett: Colleen Versluis - 41 Pts
C Grade - Gross: Maureen Wackett - 5 Pts

(Report by Shelley Chapman)

Volunteers Report

Mulching: Just a small one out job by yours truly to tidy up the 'memorial garden' at the 1st tee. Lots of fallen debris, old bark and the odd bit of rubbish to rake out. Rest of the team called by the bye close to stumps and completed the run. Frank Cahill, our resident cricketing guru should be available for clarification, in need!
